Recently I've been listening to the Septimus Heap series, a children's/YA fantasy series new to me. (It's not new at all, lol, but I'd never discovered it before, and my audible audiobook credit was due, so I just gave the first book "Magyk" a try.)
I must confess that it took me some time to get into it; I couldn't really believe it got so many good reviews, and was deemed even better than Harry Potter, because it seemed quite tedious for the first two hours or so. But, oh surprise, it started to grow on me so that I even bought the second (audio)book "Flyte" with my next credit. I liked most of the characters, even the villain Simon. Poor chap, he seemed to hapless, lol.
My favourites were Jenna and Aunt Zelda. I heartily approve of strong female characters in children's/YA's literature, they're such a rare occurrence.
My favourite parts: (Beware of spoilers! But you probably know the books much better than I do. )
The awakening of Hotep Ra's boat by Jenna and Boy 412
Jenna's escape by transforming her prison's door into (excellent) chocolate by means of a charm given to her by S.H.
All the parts with the messenger rat
Spit Fyre's antics and his first attempt at flying
Looking forward to my new audible credit in a month's time, yay!

Watercolour Pans Versus Tubes
This article is about artists' grade watercolours. Everything written is based on my personal experiences. I'm not getting paid by any of the suggested companies.
It has always struck me as surprising how painting habits can be different in Europe and the US. (Apologies to any other country/continent that I don't know of, especially all of Asia and the Southern hemisphere - I just don't have any knowledge about what artists prefer there)
European artists tend to use more pans for their watercolours, opposed to Americans, who seem to favour tubes. Of course, it's probably a question of availability, too. Companies like Schmincke (German), Wi
